Why VAT on the fees themselves?
Payment gateway fees in Saudi Arabia are considered a VAT-liable service, so 15% is added on the value of the fees themselves (not on the original transaction amount). The default rates here (1.5% for Mada and 2.1% for Visa/Mastercard, plus a fixed SAR per transaction) are taken from a licensed Saudi payment gateway's fee structure as a realistic approximate reference.
Actual rates vary between gateways and based on your business volume — all fields here are manually adjustable to match your actual contract with your payment provider.
FAQ
Are these rates fixed for all merchants?
No, rates vary by gateway, commercial agreement, and your monthly transaction volume. Use the rates shown here as an approximate reference, and adjust them to match your actual contract.
Why isn't there a default rate for PayPal?
PayPal fees vary substantially by country, currency, and your merchant account agreement, so there's no single "standard" number to assume. Enter it manually from your account settings.
